A township-based yoga studio will join yoga practitioners across the country  in a fundraiser for veterans and their families.

Diamonds & Pearls Dance Studio, 2 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, will partner with Move Within Yoga and the Veterans Yoga Project in providing donation-based classes from 9-10 a.m. on Nov. 12.

The Veterans Yoga Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity on a mission to use yoga therapy as an aid to recovery and resilience among veterans, their families and their communities. “In my experience nothing helps veterans with recovery more effectively than yoga. I’ve seen veterans turn resentment and anger into connection and acceptance, insomnia into deep restful sleep, physical debilitating pain into easy, pain-free movement”, said Dr. Daniel Libby, Executive Director of the Veterans Yoga Project.

In 2015, Veterans Yoga Project sponsored 400 classes and events in 39 states that were attended by thousands of veterans and civilians and raised awareness and much-needed funds to continue to provide therapeutic resources to Veterans and their families.

Nearly 3 million men and women have served in the military since Sept 11, 2001. Approximately half of these service members are dealing with posttraumatic stress, chronic pain, depression and/or anxiety. In addition there are approximately 12 million living veterans from previous conflicts also still in the process of recovery from the wounds of war. By providing yoga teacher training programs, practice resources for veterans, and healing retreats, Veterans Yoga Project has supported the recovery and resilience-building process of thousands of military veterans and their family members. Please consider supporting this beneficial work.

Diamonds & Pearls Dance Studio and Move Within Yoga are proud supporters of the Veterans Yoga Project.

“Krystol Cox, owner of Diamonds & Pearls, and myself are delighted to be teaming up to participate in this event. This is a beautiful way to remember loved ones who have served, not to mention bring meaning to what Veterans Day is all about. If you can’t attend our Saturday class, please consider donating to this worthy cause,” said instructor Stephanie Sprague of Move Within Yoga.
