Township Shooting Leaves 18-Year-Old Woman Wounded

Authorities are investigating an April 28 shooting which wounded a teenager who was not the intended target.

At about 11:48 p.m., township police received a 9-1-1 call reporting gunshots around Baier Avenue, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Responding officers found an 18-year-old woman near Baier Avenue who was suffering from a non-life-theatening gunshot to her “lower extremity,” according to the release.

Officers gave the woman medical attention, after which she was transported to a local trauma center for emergency treatment, according to the release.

The investigation, conducted by township police detectives and detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, has revealed that the shooting was isolated, and that the woman was not the intended victim according to the release.
