A 63-year-old township man was killed Sept. 1 after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a parked car on Hillcrest Avenue, police said.

Police said Son McCalla of Hillcrest Avenue was driving a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle when it struck the rear of the car shortly after 11 p.m.

FTPD officers responding to a 9-1-1 call about the accident found McCalla unconscious and not breathing. The officers started life-saving measures until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived, police said.

McCalla was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The FTPD Traffic Safety Bureau is investigating the accident. Hillcrest Avenue was closed for about four hours during the initial investigation, police said.

The accident is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Cpl. Michael Deutchman at 732-873-5533 extension 3110.
