Township Man Elected President Of Professional Insurance Agents Organization

A township man was elected president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey on June 9 at the association’s annual business meeting at Harrah’s in Atlantic City.

Bruce Blum, CPIA, is owner of Blum & Walsh Group Inc., a division of T.E. Freuler Agency in Somerset.

         As an active member of PIANJ, Blum served as president-elect in 2018-19; vice president in 2016-18; treasurer in 2015-16; and secretary in 2014-15. He also is vice president of the Business Issues/Communications Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Executive/Budget & Finance; Nominations and the PIANJ Political Action Governing Committees. Blum also is a member of the association’s Carrier Advisory Council.

         When elected as PIANJ president, Blum becomes the only person to hold the presidency of three insurance associations in New Jersey. He is past president of both the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association, as well as past president of the Insurance Brokers Association of New Jersey. Blum was appointed as a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business representing the 11th district by Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen, R-11.

         Active in his community, Blum belongs to the New Jersey Masons Azure Masada Lodge #22; Livingston area Chamber of Commerce; the Northern New Jersey Scottish Rite; The Fraternal Order of Police New Jersey Lodge #46; and the Metro Business Alliance. He also is secretary for the Canal Walk Men’s Club.

         PIANJ is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
