Township Man Charged With Murder Of Man Found Near Pine Grove Manor School

A 26-year-old Franklin man has been charged with murdering another township man in New Brunswick and then dumping his body near Pine Grove Manor School.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office announced the July 5 arrest of Abubakaar “Diddy” King in a press release on July 6.

King is charged with killing Darren Fordham Jr,, 26, whose body was found on July 1 in a wooded area on Phillips Road, near the elementary school. Authorities allege that King killed Fordham on June 30 at the Hamilton Garden Apartments in the city.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said previously that Fordham was shot multiple times, but did not release the location of the wounds. A person with knowledge of the investigation told the Franklin Reporter & Advocate that Fordham had been shot three times in the back of his head.

King was charged with First Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Desecrating Human Remains, 2nd Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, 3rd Degree Possession of a Weapon, 2nd Degree Hindering One’s Own Apprehension, and 4th Degree Tampering with Evidence, according to the release.

King is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, pending a detention hearing in New Brunswick Superior Court, according to the release.
