Sugar Land Doubles Up Patriots 4-2

MAY6thGRAPHICSugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land Skeeters (6-5) defeated the Somerset Patriots (6-5) 4-2 Tuesday evening from Constellation Field in the first game of a lengthy six game series.

In the top of the sixth inning second baseman Nate Spears slapped a RBI double to give the Patriots a 1-0 advantage.

Sugar Land responded with three runs in the ensuing half inning to take a 3-1 lead. Second baseman Chase Lambin recorded a RBI single while third baseman Travis Scott notched a two RBI single.

Shortstop Edwin Maysonet plated a run via a RBI groundout in the top of the seventh inning 0to cut the deficit in half as Sugar Land still led 3-2.

The Skeeters tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning as shortstop Rusty Ryal brought home a run via a RBI sacrifice fly making the contest 4-2 which would be the final score.

Matt Wright (1-2) earned the win tossing seven innings while striking out seven batters. Matt Langwell (0-1) suffered the loss lasting 5.1 innings allowing three runs on four hits. Jared Wells notched his first save of the season pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
