The 2015 Christmas season has begun, at least over in Zarephath.

WAWZ STAR 99.1-Central Jersey recently flipped the Christmas music switch. The station will play all-Christmas music through Christmas Day, according to a press release from the station.

STAR 99.1 is New Jersey and New York City’s only Christmas Music radio station that places an emphasis on songs that uplift and offer hope, according to the release. The station plays Christmas favorites from artists like MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, and Newsboys to holiday favorites from the performers such a Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, and Dean Martin.

The Christmas STAR will continue with commercial-free programming the afternoon of Christmas Eve through Christmas Day.

“Our listeners love Christmas music and have been asking for it for weeks. We’re thrilled to be the first in the NYC tri-state with Christmas music,” Rick Hall, Star 99.1’s program director, said in the release.

Star 99.1 is available locally in three ways: on the radio at 99.1 FM, HD radio 99.1 HD-1, Star 99.1’s mobile app, and streaming online at Star991.com.

This year marks the station’s first year partnering Angel Tree, a charity run by the Salvation Army, providing hope to disadvantaged children during the Christmas season. Throughout the Christmas season, Star 99.1 will collect toys, books and other items requested by the children that will later be distributed by the Salvation Army.

WAWZ, a ministry of Pillar of Fire, has been serving families for more than 80 years.
