Somerset Patriots Sign Whitehouse Station’s Evan DeLuca
Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have signed left-handed pitcher Evan DeLuca.
DeLuca, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, played high school ball for Immaculata and was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2009 draft.
DeLuca has four seasons of Single-A experience for the Yankees and the Colorado Rockies organizations. He spent last season at Tri-City, where he appeared in 13 games for Colorado’s Single-A team.
DeLuca was signed to the Somerset Patriots spring training roster after a tryout in 2013, but ultimately did not make the team coming out of camp.
DeLuca is also a pitching instructor at Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey, where he has worked since 2009.
“We looked at him throwing the other day and he made some nice adjustments. He seems to be confident and comfortable again. Evan’s a great clubhouse guy and we are happy to give him the opportunity to prove himself to be a quality pitcher at a very high level of play,” said Brett Jodie, Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
To make room for DeLuca, the Somerset Patriots have placed right-handed pitcher Buddy Boshers on the Inactive List.
The 2015 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues through September. The Somerset Patriots have clinched a playoff berth after winning the 2015 Liberty Division Championship after a record-setting 50 wins. For more information, please visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
