School Year’s End Celebrated With Pizza, Ice Cream At Community Police Office

The FTPD neighborhood police team invited area residents and students to have pizza and ice cream at their Hamilton Street office.

The township Police Department’s Neighborhood Police team held its second pizza and ice cream social at its Hamilton Street office June 16.

As it did last year, the team held the event on the last day of school for district students.

The officers welcomed children and adults into their office for slices of pizza – donated by Nicola’s Pizzeria – and gave the kids a coupon for free ice cream from Dari Delite, located across the street from their office.

“This is our outreach in the community, trying to promote the street team in the area, trying to build that relationship with the kids,” said FTPD Capt. Greg Borlan. “We do different things throughout the course of the year.”

Ptl. Deyo Swartz, one half of the street team assigned to Hamilton Street, said that the team will be on hand for the September “Week of the People” back-to-school event’s bike-a-thon to offer bike maintenance and bike safety tips.

“We also did a prayer walk for peace with True-2-Life Ministries last year,” Borlan said. “we keep our eyes open for different opportunities with the community.”
