Revs Complete Doubleheader Sweep With 9-3 Win

York, Penn. – The Somerset Patriots (31-27) dropped game two of Saturday’s doubleheader 9-3 to the York Revolution (31-28) at PeoplesBank Park.

York put a six-spot on the board in the bottom of the third to take an early 6-0 lead. A bases-loaded walk to Jared Mitchell began the scoring before a two-run single from Melky Mesa and three-straight RBI singles from Michael Burgess, Jose Cuevas and Ryan Dent topped off the inning.

The Revolution added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a Burgess RBI double and a Dent RBI single.

Somerset got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth on a three-run home run from Kyle Roller (5) to right field. The Patriots would fail to get closer while the Revs added a run on an Alexi Casilla RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to finish the scoring for the evening.

Mitch Atkins (5-3) earned the win after allowing three runs over six innings. Trevor Foss (2-5) yielded six runs on six hits over three innings to take the loss.

Somerset’s magic number to clinch a first half championship stays at four over the New Britain Bees after their win over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs but falls to two over the Long Island Ducks with their loss to the Road Warriors.

The Patriots and Revolution conclude their four-game series Sunday afternoon. Patriots’ lefty Duane Below (3-1, 3.03 ERA) toes the rubber against Revs southpaw Pat McCoy (1-3, 3.06 ERA). First pitch at PeoplesBank Park is set for 1:00 p.m.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford continues on Friday, July 6th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark to take on the Road Warriors at 7:05 pm. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com
