RCDCU Bicycle Tour Raises $4K For Prostate Cancer Awareness

More than 120 cyclists were on hand Sept. 20 for the Renaissance Community Development Corporation Credit Union’s annual bike-a-thon for prostate cancer awareness.

The group raised $4,000, which was presented before the ride’s start to Steve Jones, president and CEO of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Health System.

“Prostate disease doesn’t discriminate,” Jones told the group. “It affects men of all races.”

“I thank you and all of the other great sponsors who supported this bike-a-thon,” he said. “It’s important to get out the word. Knowledge is the best thing we can do.”

The riders left from and returned to Franklin Middle School. Rides were 10-, 30- and 50-miles long, with courses traversing through the township. There was also a 3-mile walk/ride through Colonial Park.

The ride was organized by RCDCU’s Shirley Spruill. Rides were mapped out by her son, David Spruill.
