Quail Brook Senior Center Sets December Calendar

Following are the December events scheduled by the Quail Brook Senior Center, 625 New Brunswick Rd. in Somerset. The center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bingo Tournament – Every Thursday
Caram – Daily (East Indian Game Similar to Billiards)
Chair Exercises – Every Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.
Computer Instruction – Every Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Advance registration required.
Healthy Bones Exercise Class – Monday, 9:30 a.m. (Doctor’s Note Needed for Class)
Line Dancing – Every Friday, 9:30 am
Games (Scrabble, Dominos, Checkers, Yahtzee, Uno & Quizzle) – Daily
December 2 – Performance by the “5 Straws: A Brass Wind Instrument Quintet”, 10:30 am (They will play a variety of music that will put you in a festive spirit).
December 3, 17 & 21 – Tai Chi with Bobbi Joels, 10:30 am (Tai Chi as exercise is based on shifting body weight through a series of light, controlled movements that flow rhythmically together into one long, graceful gesture.  Some studies have reported that participants experienced a reduction in pain, fatigue and stiffness and a greater sense of well-being.  Regular tai chi can help reduce falls especially for those with balance problems).
December 4 – Dance Performance by the Hillsborough Rockettes and Rockets
December 5 – Hanukkah Basics: An Educational Journey of Time, Relevance & Sharing, 10:30 am
December 6 – “Colon Health: Anatomy & Function of Your Large Intestine” by Saint Peter’s University Hospital, 10:30 am
December 6, 13 & 27 – Bridge Lessons with Renee, 10:30 am
December 9 – “Oh What Fun It Is: A Christmas Chorus with Jackie Weigart & the Canal Choral Society, 10:30 am
December 10 – “Tis the Season to be Safety Conscious: Another Gentle Reminder on Fire Safety During the Holidays” with the Franklin Township Fire Prevention Squad, 10:30 am
December 12 – Center Closed
December 13 – “Depression & Older Adults” by Suda Narasimham, LSW, Jewish Family Services of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties, 10:30 am
December 16 – Performance by the Swinging Singing Seniors
December 19 – Center Closed
December 20 – “A Sliver of Sliver” Holiday Event, 10:30 am (A Sliver of Sliver is Quail Brook’s 2013 Holiday Event for friends and family.  Please join us and celebrate with a much lauded & savory lunch, delectable dessert and much anticipated music that will lift your spirits just in the “Nick” of time!)
December 23 – A Trip to the Movies: Popcorn and a Classic Holiday Movie at Quail Brook, 10:30 am
December 24 & 25 – Holiday – Center Closed
December 26 – Bingo: Grand Prize Drawing, 10:30 am
December 27 – “Kwanza: A Celebration of family, Friends and Culture” with Girl Scout Troop 61091, 10:30 am
December 31 – New Year’s Party, 10:30 am (Another reason to celebrate!  Come ring in 2014, bring your hat & noisemakers and join us for lunch and a toast at noon).
