Quail Brook Senior Center March Schedule Released
Following is the list of events for March at the Quail Brook Senior Center, 625 New Brunswick Rd. in Somerset. The center is open 9a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Bingo Tournament – Every Thursday
Bridge Lessons – Every Friday, 10:30 a.m.
Caram – Daily (East Indian Game Similar to Billiards)
Chair Exercises – Every Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.
Computer Instruction – Every Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Advance registration required.
Games (Scrabble, Dominos, Checkers, Yahtzee, Uno & Quizzle) – Daily
Healthy Bones Exercise Class – Monday, 9:30 a.m. (Doctor’s Note Needed for Class)
Line Dancing – Every Friday, 9:30 a.m.
March 3 – “A Psychic Experience: Popular Culture or Real Prophecies & Predictions?” by Artie Hoffman, 10:30 a.m.
March 4, 5 & 25 – Tai Chi with Bobbi Joels, 10:30 a.m. (Tai Chi as exercise is based on shifting body weight through a series of light, controlled movements that flow rhythmically together into one long, graceful gesture. Some studies have reported that participants experienced a reduction in pain, fatigue and stiffness and a greater sense of well-being. Regular tai chi can help reduce falls especially for those with balance problems.)
March 7- “Reconciliation: A Conclusion to Internal and External Conflicts” by the Magic Mirror Players, Somerset Medical Center, 10:45 a.m.
March 10 – “Putting the Better in Baking: A Lecture & Demonstration on Healthy Desserts” by Allison Napolitano, RD, Shoprite/Wakefern Company, 10:00 a.m.
March 11 – “Aromatherapy: A Belief in the Balance & Harmony of Body and Mind Using Essential Plant Oils” by Meredith Krantz and Lucy Tamayo, 10:30 a.m.
March 12 – “Planning a Native Butterfly Garden” by Christa Wood, Naturalist, Somerset County Park Commission, Environmental Education Center, 10:30 a.m.
March 13 – “Hands On” Origami Program sponsored by the Horizon Foundation, 10:30 a.m.
March 17 – Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day: The Patron Saint of Ireland, 10:30 a.m.
March 18 – “Don’t Back Down: Learn How to Prevent Back Injuries” by Kessler Rehabilitation Center, 10:30 a.m.
March 19 – “Controlling Bed Bugs” by Lynne Gregory, Coordinator, Pesticides Community Outreach, United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region 2 10:30 a.m. (The most important step in controlling bed bugs is to learn about them and prevent them from being introduced. This program will highlight the prevention, detection and control of bed bugs, which are parasites that seek out sleeping people and animals. Non-chemical and chemical intervention methods will also be discussed.)
March 24 – “Fire Safety and Fire Prevention” by the Franklin Township Fire Prevention Squad, 10:30 a.m.
March 26 – Visit to the Manville Senior Center “Nashville Memories” Party with Entertainment by Michael Kaye, 10:45 a.m.
March 31 – “Passover & Easter: A Jewish Commemoration and A Christian Festival with a Spirited Discussion, 10:30 a.m.
