‘Q’s Fancy Hat & Tea Party’ Set For May 1 In Township

Quana-Fladger

Township resident Laquinta Fladger is hosting a charity event on May 1 at the East Franklin Fire house.

Township resident LaQuina Fladger is hoping too see a sea of fancy hats May 1 at the East Franklin Fire Station on Pine Grove Avenue.

That’s because Fladger, who also goes by “Q,” is hosting a charity event to benefit breast cancer and domestic violence charities.

The event is “Q’s Fancy Hat & Tea Party,” and kicks off at 3 p.m.

Fladger said the idea for the event came to her in a dream.

“I do believe that dreams come true,” she said.

The day will be hosted by Lawrence “Ben” Miles, of the New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and will feature vendors, door prizes, raffles, line dancing, poetry and a DJ, she said.

There will also be comments offered by survivors of cancer and domestic violence, she said.

Deserts and light refreshments will be served.

Tickets are still available at the door for $30 – cash only – and the first 25 people will receive a “bag of goodies,” she said.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society and the Resource Center of Somerset, she said.

Fladger said she is also involved in other charities, including ALS walks, the MS Rockefeller Climb in February and Rutgers Relay For Life earlier this month.
