Jan. 6
Sandra Barboza of Elizabeth was cited for careless driving after the car she was driving rear-ended one driven by Karim Carnegie of Newark, who was stopping for a police officer at a school crosswalk.

Jairam Muthreja of Somerset was cited for careless driving after the car he was driving rear-ended one on Easton Avenue driven by Neetu Chamak of Monroe. Chamak said she stopped because the car ahead of hers stopped short.
§
Richard Piuri of East Brunswick told police that he could not stop in time while driving on Route 518 to avoid his car rear-ending a car driven by Dzmitry Kalinin of Princeton.
§
Kelsey Davis of Somerville was cited for careless driving after police said she failed to yield the right-of-way on Easton Avenue to a car drive by Nicole Tavernier of Somerset, and the two collided. Tavernier said she was making a left from Irvington Avenue onto Easton when the collision occurred. Davis said Tavernier was driving too fast.

Mona Peteet of Hillsborough was driving down Canal Road when, she said, her car slid on the snowy road, crossed the center line, entered a ditch and hit a tree.

Shana Gilbert of Newark told police that she was slowing on Easton Avenue when her car slid into a stopped school bus driven by Sonia Delgado of Perth Amboy and a stopped car driven by Kathryn Suchman of Somerville.

Henry Shen of Point Pleasant was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way at an intersection and Spencer Thielman of Somerset was cited for careless driving after the two were involved in an accident at DeMott Lane and Amwell Road. Shen was turning left from Amwell to DeMott; he told police that the light was green for him. Thielman said he thought he could clear traffic with an amber light, but lost control of his car.

Megan Barlow of Hillsborough was driving down Canal Road when, she said, her car suddenly slid into a guardrail.
§
Max Kuang of Somerset was cited for careless driving after his car crossed over the center line on Suydam Road and struck a car driven by Jeffrey Sullivan of Perrineville. Kuang said his car slid on the road.
§
Gary Holder of Kendall Park was slowing down on Butler Road to negotiate a bend when his car slid off the road into a guardrail.
§
Trey Sconier of North Brunswick was driving down Chelsea Court when her car slid on snow and struck a parked car owned by Karen Bishop of Somerset. The impact pushed Bishop’s car into one owned by Rachel Hart of Defuniak Springs, Fl.
§
Cars driven by Kevin Shiraldi of Kendall Park and Jigisha Patel of Plainsboro collided while both were turning left from Amwell Road to Cedar Grove Lane.
§
A car driven by Luisa Valdivieso-Damia of Piscataway was turning left from Hamilton Street to Clyde Road when it collided with a car driven by Anthony Rossi of East Brunswick. Police said both drivers were at fault.

Jan. 7
Samar Tabet of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car rear-ended one driven on South Middlebush Road by Smitha Mahishi of Monmouth Junction. Two police cars with lights and sirens on caused Tabet to stop short, after which Mahishi’s car struck hers.
§
Ayana Wildgoose of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car collided with one driven by Ashley Richardson of Somerset. Wildgoose was turning into a driveway when the two collided.
§
A car driven by Martha Bangura of Somerset was struck on Matilda Avenue by a USPS truck driven by Steven Bustos of Robbinsville when Bustos backed into Bangura’s car. Bustos said he was backing up because he missed a mail box.
§
Stephen Schwimmer of Belle Mead was cited for careless driving after his car collided with one driven on Route 27 by Jane Sheehan of Princeton. Sheehan said Schwimmer cut her off.

Jan. 8
A GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked car owned by a Hillcrest Avenue resident. The unit was valued at $100.
§
Joseph O’Donnell of Rockaway told police that he could not stop in time on Highland Avenue to avoid his car colliding with one driven by Moises Solano Rodriguez of Auburn, Wa. Solano Rodriguez’ car was stopped at the time.
§
Juana Gomez of Somerset was backing her car on Whittier Avenue when it struck a parked car owned by Michael Trabucco of Basking Ridge.
§
A car owned by Rosa Rodriguez of Somerset was side-swiped while it was parked on Parkside Street. The other car left the scene.
§
Nikhil Pandey of Freehold told police that he was stopping his car in traffic on Weston Canal Road when it was rear-ended by one driven by Emilio Esteves of Perth Amboy.

Jan. 9
An Onizuka Court resident told police that someone entered her unlocked car and stole more than $500 worth of items. Taken were a Garmin GPS unit valued at $360, a pair of Apple in-ear headphones valued at $30, two rubber floor mats valued at $50 and 20 CDs valued at $100.
§
A Winston Drive resident reported that someone stole items valued at $150 from his unlocked car. Stolen were a gps unit valued at $50, a black Nike gym bag valued at $50 and a red Rutgers gym bag valued at $50.
§
Peter Garay of Little Egg Harbor was cited for careless driving after he told police that he was speeding on Amwell Road when he came upon a tree limb in the road and, in trying to avoid it, went into a ditch where his car overturned.
§
Adriel Crispo of Hillsborough told police he was driving on Amwell Road when another car crossed the yellow line, hit his car, and sped off.
§
Christine Voelker of Somerset told police she was pulling her car out of her driveway onto Hamilton Street and did not see an oncoming car, driven by Frank DiCaprio of Terryville, Ct., until the two collided.
§
Yevgeniy Zhikulin of Cliffsde Park was pulling his USPS truck out of a Shell gas station on Amwell Road when it was struck by a car driven by Michael Starke of Hatfield, Pa. Starke said the truck pulled right out in front of him.
§
William DePalma of Monroe was traveling down South Middlebush Road when a deer ran in front of his car, striking it.
§
Darrell Salvato of Bridgewater said he was slowing his car on Randolph Road when his foot slipped off the brake, and his car rear-ended one driven by Robert Balkjy of Verona.
§
Carlyn Hudson of East Windsor was cited for careless driving after the car she was driving rear-ended one on South Middlebush Road by Victor Hrudowsky of Belle Mead. Hudson said her foot slipped off the brake onto the gas pedal.
§
A car driven by Jessica Popik of North Plainfield rear-ended one driven on Easton Avenue by Nigelia Gumbs of Somerset.

Jan. 10
Udaya Weerasinghe of Kendall Park was cited for careless driving after he was involved in an accident with a car driven on Route 27 by Vincenzo Marna of Belle Mead. Marna said the other driver changed lanes and struck his car.
§
Brittany Kaczowski of Monmouth Junction was cited for careless driving and Alan Ster of Somerset was cited for driving an uninsured vehicle after the two collided on Cedar Grove Lane. Kaczowski’s car rear-ended Ster’s in the Treptoe Lane intersection.
§
Cars driven by Marie Ferrizzi of Somerset and Janette Irizarry of Somerset collided on Easton Avenue, as Ferrizzi’s car was leaving the Unclaimed Freight plaza and Irizarry’s car was entering it. Ferizzi said she was blinded by the sun glare.
§
Karl Bell of Evans, Ga. was turning into a truck entrance off Heller Park Lane when his truck struck a car driven by Michelle Barkley of Monmouth Junction.
§
Mehmet Suden of Lodi was driving down Cedar Grove Lane when a deer ran in front of his car and he hit it.

Scott Lane of Bound Brook was driving on Easton Avenue when a deer ran into his car.

Jan. 11
A Bayberry Drive resident was able to extinguish a fire in his house after curtains next to his fireplace caught fire. There were no reported injuries.
§
An Old Georgetown Road resident reported that someone set off some fireworks in his mailbox.
§
Candida Mejia of New Brunswick told police that she was parking at 581 Somerset Street when, instead of pressing the brake, she stepped on the gas and her car hit the building.
§
Cars driven by David Plummer of Somerset and Lester Azcona of New Brunswick collided at Millstone Road and Hamilton Street. Plummer said Azcona stopped while turning in front of his car, then backed into it Azcona said Plummer’s car rear-ended his.
§
Peter Novobilsky of Hopewell was turning his car from Route 27 to Laurel Avenue when it was struck by a car driven by Rozi Dhandu of Princeton.
