Mitalben Modi of Somerset was driving down Easton Avenue, past Culver Street, she told police, when she had a coughing fit, causing her car to rear-end an auto driven by Manas Das, also of Somerset.

Orlando Austin of Middlesex told police that he was driving down Elizabeth Avenue when he saw a deer enter the road, so he stopped. He said the deer stopped, also, but when Austin started forward, the deer ran into the driver’s side of his car.

Anthony Pacilio of Kendall Park told police that he did not see an oncoming car, driven by Vaidehi Sreenivasan of Dayton, when he was turning left onto Route 27 from a driveway. Pacilio’s car struck Sreenovasan’s.

Regina Regiec of Port Monmouth was cited for careless driving after her car struck the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by Lacina Ouattara of The Bronx. Ouattara’s truck was parked on Jiffy Road when Regiec’s car’s side view mirror hit it as she was attempting to avoid a pothole. Ouattara was cited for parking in a fire zone.

Sylvers Owusu of Newark was cited for careless driving, tailgating and seat belt violations after a car he was driving struck one driven on Weston Canal Road by Andrea Hicks of North Plainfield. Hicks told police that she had just exited Interstate 287 on Weston Canal Road when Owusu’s car hit hers twice. Owusu said he wanted to change lanes, and Hicks flashed her lights, signaling for him to do so. Hicks was cited for driving an uninsured car.

Jessica Aler of Kendall Park was cited for careless driving after the car she was driving rear-ended one driven by Ryan Marsa of Monroe. Marsa told police that he was stopped in traffic on Route 518 when his car was hit. Aler told police that Marsa’s car stopped, started and then stopped again, leaving her no time to avoid the accident.

Sunny Patel of North Brunswick was driving down Claremont Road when, he told police, a deer ran in front of his car, giving him no time to avoid hitting it.

March 1

Samuel Adams of Somerset was cited for careless driving after his car pulled onto Hamilton Street from Home Street and collided with a car driven by Atul Ashar of Belle Mead. Ashar said Adams’ car pulled out and hit his; Adams said Ashar’s car swiped the front of his.
