Updated: Police Investigating ‘Shots Fired’ Report Around Dewald Avenue
Update: A 31-year-old man was injured in a shooting on Dewald Avenue the evening of Jan. 3, according to teh Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
The man, who was not identified, was found outside a Dewald Ave home with a non-life-threatening gunshot to one leg, according to a press release from the prosecutor.
Responding officers performed first aid on the man’s leg, after which he was transported to a local trauma center for more treatment, according to the release.
Police said the incident is isolated, and the man was the intended victim.

Original Story: Police are investigating a report of shots being fired the evening of Jan. 3 on Dewald Avenue, between Lewis and Ralph streets.
There were no initial reports of injuries.
A neighborhood resident said the shots were fired at about 7:43 p.m.
The resident said he and several neighbors first heard “a few (shots), and then a pause, followed by a few more.”
“Next I heard a woman screaming and a man’s voice yelling, ‘get back in the house now’,” the resident said.
Police were still in the area as of about 10:30 p.m. Police crime scene tape was stretched across Dewald, at the intersection of Lewis.
Township Police spokesman Lt. Phil Rizzo said all information would be coming from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
