Police Investigate Gunshot Damage To King Road Home

What was thought at first to be fireworks turned out to be gunshots near a King Road home, and police are turning to the public for help in finding out who was responsible.

Franklin Township Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting firework damage to a house in the King Road area at about 6:42 p.m. on July 14, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

Upon examination of the house, responding officers found the damage to have been caused by gunshots, the release said.

Detectives from Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit and the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, according to the release.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Somerset County Prosecutors Office Major Crimes Unit at (908) 231-7100, or the Franklin Township Police Department at (732) 873-5533 or via the STOPit app. The STOPit app allows citizens to provide anonymous reports including videos and photos.
