Police: Driver Injured In One-Car Crash On Blackwells Mills Road

Update: The driver has been identified as Bharat Kirthivasan, 29, of Plainsboro.
A driver injured in a rush-hour car crash on Blackwells Mills Road was transported to a New Brunswick hospital with a serious head wound, police said.
Police arrived on the scene of the 7:36 a.m. crash to find the driver of a 2003 Acura RSX pinned in the vehicle, up against a telephone pole.
The driver was extracted and helicoptered to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by the NJ State Police aviation unit.
Police said the car was traveling west on Blackwells Mills when the driver apparently lost control of it and struck the utility pole near Van Cleef Road. Police are still investigating the factors that led up to the accident, according to a release about the incident.
Traffic on Blackwells Mills was closed for about two hours, police said.
Police are withholding releasing the victim’s name until family members can be contacted, according to the release.
