Police: Attempted Break-In of Poe Avenue Home May Be Caught on Video

A Poe Avenue resident may have videotaped a man who allegedly tried to break into her neighbor’s house, police said.

The potential victim was on vacation on Oct. 1 when the incident occurred, police said.

Jay Fillmore told police on Oct. 5 that he returned home from vacation to find that someone tried to break into his house.

A neighbor of Fillmore’s said she videoed a teenager knock on Fillmore’s front door, then jump the fence when he received no response. A few minutes later, police said, the youth was seen jumping back over the fence and walking down Poe Ave. toward Copper Avenue.

The youth was described as being a light-skinned black man carrying a backpack.
