Patriots And Skeeters Split Double Header

gamerecapupdate-doubleheader51714Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots and the Sugar Land Skeeters split a double header at TD Bank Ballpark before 5,862 fans on Saturday evening.

Game 1:
The Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the Somerset Patriots 8-2 in game one.

The Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a home run by Luis Montanez (3) and an RBI single by Eddy Martinez-Esteve.

The Skeeters cut the lead to 2-1 on a solo home run by Rusty Ryal (2) in the top of the second inning.

Sugar Land took the lead with three runs on a home run by Delwyn Young (3) in the fifth.

The Skeeters broke the game open in the top of the seventh on a grand slam by Travis Scott (3).

Skeeters starter Clint Everts (1-1) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on four hits in five innings pitched. Patriots starter Matt Langwell (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in five innings pitched.

Game 2:
The Somerset Patriots defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 4-2 in game two of the double header.

The Skeeters led the game 1-0 in the second inning when an RBI groundout by Alex Nunez brought home Travis Scott.

The Patriots took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when four runs crossed the plate. Ty Wright reached on an error that allowed a run to score, Adam Donachie drew a bases loaded walk, Scott Kelly drove in a run on an RBI fielder’s choice, and Cory Harrilchak’s sacrifice fly made the score 4-1.

Sugar Land made it a 4-2 game with a run in the top of the seventh on an RBI triple by Dominic Ramos.

Reliever Mike DeMark (2-1) got the win, pitching a scoreless inning. Daniel Meadows (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs-two earned- in 0.1 innings pitched. Jon Hunton earned his fourth save of the season.
