Patriots Overpower Revs In 16-1 Rout

York, Pennsylvania – The Somerset Patriots (9-16, 51-44) set a season-high in runs and winning margin in a dominant 16-1 win over the York Revolution (18-7, 52-42) Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park.

Somerset began the scoring in the top of the first inning on a Will Kengor RBI double. York tied the game the very next half inning with a solo home run from Telvin Nash (30).

The Patriots then opened up the game in the third. A Kengor RBI single briefly regained a 2-1 lead for Somerset before two separate three-run home runs – one for Michael Ohlman (8) and one from Teodoro Martinez (1) – increased the lead to 8-1.

The seven-run inning tied a season-high for the Patriots. They had a seven-run first inning against the High Point Rockers at TD Bank Ballpark on May 1st.

The bats continued to produce shortly thereafter with a six-run top of the fourth. Ten batters came to the plate in the inning, highlighted by a bases-loaded walk to Alfredo Rodriguez and two-run home runs from Kengor (12) and Gabriel Bracamonte (3).

Ohlman (9) added to the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth – his second of the night – to make it a 16-1 Patriots advantage. The 15-run lead was the largest lead the team has held in a game this year, while the 16 runs were a season-high.

Both teams went scoreless the rest of the way.

Rick Teasley (W, 3-1) earned the win, scattering one run on seven hits over six innings. Ricky Schafer (L, 1-1) allowed six runs on six hits over 2.1 innings to take the loss.

The Patriots continue their series against the Revolution Wednesday night. Right-hander Liam O’Sullivan takes the mound for Somerset against York righty Julio Eusebio. First pitch at PeoplesBank Park is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues on the road until Friday, August 9th when the Patriots return home to host the Sugar Land Skeeters. For tickets, stop by the box office located at TD Bank Ballpark, call (908) 252-0700, or visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
