NJ Family Pet Show Coming To Garden State Expo Center

Dog training classes are part of the NJ Family Pet Show, set for November 7 and 8 in the Garden State Expo Center.


The New Jersey Family Pet Show is relocating to the township next month.

The annual event will be held at the Garden State Expo Center, 50 Atrium Dr., on Nov. 7 and 8.

The show will feature many pet vendors, educational and entertaining performances, special attractions, pet adoptions and outstanding shopping for pet lovers, according to a release on the event. Area rescue groups will be there with adoptable pets and much more.

Pet owners can bring their well-behaved pets to the show. Certain restrictions apply, owners should check the Web site for full details.

Highlights of the show will include:

  • Gail Mirabella and The Dynamo Dogs Variety Act! You can teach your old do new tricks – these veteran-performing dogs will knock the spectators socks off with their Trick Dog Show Routine, Frisbee Dog Acrobatics and dynamite performances! Gail and her canine friends will wow the crowd as they do all over the country.
  • Rabbit Hopping – it’s not the bunny hop you’re thinking of – but talented rabbits who love to jump! Yep, think agility for your bunny! Allikatt’s Bunnies will present an agility demo of rabbits hopping all weekend – and there is even a seminar so you can learn how to get involved in this sport with your own hare.
  • Superfit Canine! See our Disaster Working Dogs show how they find people missing in a disaster. See their amazing Ladder, plank and agility skills at they master the mock ‘disaster zone.’ Meet and learn more about our dogs and how you can get involved.
  • Rainforest Reptile Show – an exciting, fascinating adventure through the rare and endangered reptile world! Many exotic reptiles will be slithering around at the show – including Fred the rescued alligator!
  • Parrot Shows with John Lege – ‘That Guy with the Birds’ – his family friendly interactive Parrot program will ruffle feathers and delight bird aficionados. Bird lovers can even flock to have their picture take with John’s birds throughout the weekend.
  • Princetown Dog Training Club – Want Fido to be more obedient or learn agility? The Princetown Dog Training club will be doing demonstrations of dog agility and obedience in the Dog Ring all weekend!
  • The Monmouth County SPCA will be on hand offering reduced-cost microchipping to anyone who would like to get their pet microchipped.

In addition attendees can enjoy pony rides, learn about and meet Alpacas, pot bellied pigs, and other unusual and exotic animals.

“We are thrilled to hosting our show in this new location in Somerset,” Karen Garetano of Family Pet Shows said in the release. “In addition to our new location for our New Jersey show, we have also added new attractions to the show this year. We have something for everyone and every age at this show and attendees can expect to see many fun and entertaining animals, pet vendors, rescue groups and attractions. We are looking forward to meeting everyone at the show!”

The New Jersey Family Pet Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 7, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children (ages 11 and under), 3 and under are admitted free.
