New Focus On Dessert (Italian Style) At Piazza Orsillo
The fact that his business is one of the more established in the township doesn’t stop Damiano Orsillo from trying new things.
That was evidenced in November, when Orsillo, owner of Piazza Orsillo Pizzeria and Restaurant on Cedar Grove Lane, introduced a new line of desserts to his menu.
He likes them so much that he imported a display refrigerator for them from Italy, and installed it at the front of his restaurant.
“This is something new we added to the pizzeria and restaurant, we’re trying to push more desserts,” he said. “It’s working very, very well.”
In addition to slices of cake varieties such as carrot, cheesecake (plain, lemoncello and pumpkin) and chocolate, Orsillo also offers flavors of Bindi frozen desserts: Tiramisu, Strawberry and Cream, Toasted Almond and profiteroles.
“It’s something I always wanted to do,” he said of the new products. “I feel that it brings a nicer look to the restaurant. It took me a little while, but I did it.”
Prior to this, Orsillo said, he only offered basic desserts such as cannoli and zeppoles. He still sells cannoli, but the zeppoles are gone, he said.
The cake slices and frozen desserts are $3.95 each, and can be eaten in or taken out, he said.
Piazza Orsillo is located in the Cedar Grove shopping center, and is open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
