Nate Coronado Powers Patriots To 10-2 Win

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (15-4, 50-32) defeated the Road Warriors (2-15, 19-61) 10-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

The Road Warriors took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Isaac Wenrich in the top of the first inning.

The Patriots jumped out in front with four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Justin Pacchioli tied up the game with an RBI groundout before Alfredo Rodriguez gave Somerset the lead with an RBI double. Nate Coronado’s sacrifice fly and Endy Chavez’s RBI single made the score 4-1.

Coronado added two more on a home run (4) in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 6-1 advantage.

“I was just trying to put the ball in play,” said Coronado, who finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run, and three RBI. “I wasn’t trying to do too much. I was winning that count and he hung the slider, which was the pitch I was looking for.”

The Road Warriors got a run back in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Geraldo Valentin.

The Patriots added four more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on an error, an RBI single by Rodriguez, and a two-run single by Matt Oberste for the 10-2 final.

Kyle Davies (5-4) picked up the win, allowing two runs on seven hits and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched. Alberto Rodriguez (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in four innings pitched.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday, July 29th with a 5:05 pm game against the Road Warriors at TD Bank Ballpark. The game features Rally Towels (1st 1,500 Fans) and Jewish Community Night presented by the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest NJ.
