Marilyn Claire Herrmann, 86; Women’s Club, Senior Club Member

marilyn-herrmannMarilyn Claire Herrmann, 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 7 at Morris Hall St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lawrenceville.

Mrs. Herrmann was born June 18, 1930 in Bronx, New York, the daughter of William and Anne (Buhen) Reinhardt. Marilyn grew up in the Bronx where she met her husband, Fred shortly after he returned from service in WWII. They lived in New York City and also Bethlehem, PA before settling in Somerset in 1967.

Marilyn was in the 1948 graduating class of Jane Addams High School in the Bronx. Marilyn raised six children and worked part time in sales for Macy’s department store. She was a member of the Cedar Wood Women’s Club, Cedar Hill Swim Club, and the Franklin Township Senior Citizens Club. Marilyn loved tending her garden and creating beautiful flower arrangements, winning many awards. She was an avid seamstress, having made numerous dresses for family and friends including the entire wedding party for one of her daughter’s weddings. She was also a baker and an amazing cook. Marilyn was a loving wife, a caring Mother and an adoring Grandmother, she will be missed by many.

Marilyn taught her children to be honest, kind, work hard and laugh. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, and if you asked her what she wanted, she would always say, “for my children to be happy.”

Mrs. Herrmann is survived by her husband of 68 years, Frederick J. Herrmann of Lawrenceville, NJ; her children, Lynn Herrmann Traub of Massachusetts, Ellen Herrmann and her husband Joel Cohn of Rhode Island, Frederick W. Herrmann and his wife Brigette of Skillman, NJ, William Herrmann and his wife Jane of Texas, Christopher Herrmann and his wife Dana of California, and Timothy Herrmann and his wife Claire of New York City; her grandchildren, Katie and her husband Owen, Frederick, Elise, Caroline, Amanda, Elizabeth, Danielle, Melissa, Emily and many Friends.

A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthias Church, 170 JFK Blvd.
