Update: Man Who Apparently Killed Himself In Naaman Williams Park Was Correctional Officer

The body of a 52-year-old man who apparently shot himself was found early April 29 in Naaman Williams Park, police said.

The 52-year-old-man who apparently shot himself in Naaman Williams Park was a Middlesex County Correctional Officer, police said.

The body of the 52-year-old man with a gunshot would to his chest was found by a passer-by in Naaman Williams Park early in the morning of April 29, police said.

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano said in a release that the death appeared to be a suicide.

Police have not released the man’s identity, but released a statement later in the evening of April 29 that the man was a correctional officer.

Williams Park is located between Parkside Street and Matilda Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and detectives are awaiting results of ballistic testing and autopsy findings by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Newark.
