Live Video Story: WaWa Grand Opening Party Benefits Township Food Bank
The grand opening of the WaWa convenience store and gas station on Somerset Street on Dec. 15 was part party, part fundraiser.
The celebration included music, an “historical” parade and a sub sandwich-making contest, which is where the fundraising came in.
Teams from the Franklin Township Police Department and the Community Volunteer Fire Company competed in the event, which was a 3-minute contest to see which team could make the most sub sandwiches.
The FTPD team won, and got to take home the “Hoagies For Heroes” trophy, but the real winner was the Franklin Food bank, which received $1,000 donations from WaWa in the name of each team.
The Franklin Reporter & Advocate live-streamed from the event.
