Life Story: Walter Mitchell, 72, Longtime Employee Of Coach USA

Walter Mitchell passed away Dec. 4 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at the age of 72.

He was born in Newark, NJ and lived in East Orange and Greenbrook before moving to Franklin Park about 25 years ago.

Mr. Mitchell was employed for many years by Coach USA in New Brunswick as a driver and retired as Director of Training. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine of Canterbury Church in Kendal Park.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Mary Jane Mitchell . He is survived by his children, Robert Mitchell of Franklin Park, Karen Vollmer-Willms and her husband Fredrick Jr. of Ocean; his siblings Stewart Mitchell of Pa., and Esther Warga of Edison, and his six grandchildren, Kayla, Lindsey, and Rebecca Mitchell and Michael, Mathew, and Mitchell Vollmer. He is also survived by his first son in law Walter Karl Vollmer III.

Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 10 at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton St., followed by a 10:15 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church on Henderson Road in Kendall Park. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Friends and family may visit from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
