Life Story: Sandra Cige, 84; Library, Temple Volunteer

Mrs. Sandra Cige passed away late Saturday evening at her home in Somerset. She was 84 years old.

Mrs. Cige was born in Boston and grew up with very humble beginnings. She worked as a young lady in her family’s grocery store and played a vital role in raising her younger sister. She lived in Brooklyn for a time before moving to Somerset in 1971.

Mrs. Cige was generous with her time, volunteering at the Franklin Township Library and the Temple Beth El Pre-School in Somerset. She loved the company of the sisterhood of Temple Beth El where she was a member for many years. She loved to read and enjoyed bowling.

Mrs. Cige was pre-deceased by her sister Carol Berg. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fred Cige of Somerset. She is also survived by her children Hillary Cige Post and her husband Justin of Basking Ridge and Brian Cige and his wife Laurence of Skillman, and her grandchildren Sarah, Alexander, Andrew, Joshua, Mara, Adam, William and David.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 6 at Temple Beth El, 1489 Hamilton St. Please arrive by 10:15. Graveside services will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge under the direction of Gleason Funeral Home in Somerset.
