Life Story: Robert ‘Bob’ Arnold, 91; Community VFC Life Member

Robert “Bob” Arnold, 91, passed away on Nov. 13 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tn.

Mr. Arnold was born November 9, 1926 in New Brunswick, to the late John and Edna (Vandcar) Arnold. He was a longtime resident of Somerset before relocating to Tennessee.

Robert honorably served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a machinist super attendant for Home News Tribune, as well as the Greater Jersey Press. Bob was a life member at Community Volunteer Fire Company and the Community First Aid Squad. He also enjoyed camping, boating and gardening.

Mr. Arnold was predeceased by his brothers, Jack and Ronald Arnold, and his sister, Minnie Russert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Arnold of Tenessee; his daughter, Barbara Arnesen and her husband John of Tenessee; his grandsons, Steven Arnesen and his wife Austin of Florida and Michael Arnesen and his wife Danielle; his great grandchildren, Hunter, Avery, Luke and Logan and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at Gleason Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick.
