Life Story: Lenon Reed, 72; Longtime Township Resident

Lenon Reed, 72, passed away August 22 at Somerset Woods in Somerset.

Mr. Reed was born April 17, 1945 in Rosehill, Mississippi, the son of Jessie and Annie May (Barlow) Reed. He relocated and settled in Somerset when he was 10 years old.

Lenon was a chemical operator for Akzo Nobel in New Brunswick, where he worked for 40 years and retired in 2006. He treasured playing the bass guitar for his band (The Up Beat). Lenon was also an avid fisherman and loved to play pool.

He is survived by his Sons, Leonard Jiles and Anton Jiles; his daughter, Jeanine (Takiyah Kuaranha) White; his brothers, Daniel Reed and his wife Dorothy, Manual Reed and his wife Diane, George Reed and his wife Menny, Quenon Reed and his wife Annie May; his sister, Lucille Kelley; his three grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Reed, his mother, Annie May Reed, his brothers, Harvy, Harley, Jessie Jr., Ivey and Sam; his sisters, Berthal Sanders and Vivian Sanders

A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. September 7 at Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery in North Brunswick.
