Life Story: Hilda Marie Saro, 90; Former Township Resident

Hilda Marie Saro passed away on May 26 at Tidewell Hospice of Venice, Fla. at age 90.

Mrs. Saro was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and came to the mainland United States as a young girl. She grew up and graduated high school in the Bronx. She raised her children in Brooklyn and Edison prior to moving to Somerset in 1974. She later moved to Venice, Florida in 2010.

Mrs. Saro was employed for more than 25 years by Revlon in as an Administrator in the Lab Department. After she retired, she worked at the local travel agency in Rutgers Plaza in Somerset.

She loved to dance and travel. She particularly enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Branson, Missouri. She was a loving parent, sibling and grandparent who would refuse nothing to anyone.

She was pre-deceased by a son Richard Saro, a brother Efrain Lugo and a sister Anna Torres.

Mrs. Saro is survived by her children William Saro and his wife Patricia of Venice, FL. and Margie Kramer also of Claremont, FL. She is also survived by her brother Mario Lugo, grandchildren Jason, Anne, Melanie and Lauren and great-grandchildren Ava, Lyra, Jackson, Titus, and Ellery.

Visiting will be held on Sunday June 3 from 4-7 PM at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset and on Monday June 4 from 9 AM -10:30 . A funeral mass will follow at 11 AM at St. Joseph R.C. Church Yorktown Road in Hillsborough. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
