Life Story: Helen J. Rockhill, 86; Cedar Hill Swim Club Member

Helen J. Rockhill, age 86, died February 4 at Parker At Monroe, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (Rocky) Rockhill.

She resided in Somerset for most of her adult life. Previously she lived in Riverdale, Maryland, and Roanoke, Virginia.

Helen was a working partner in the family business, Rockhill Machinery Sales. She was a member of Somerset Presbyterian Church, and Cedar Hill Swim Club.

Helen possessed a loving and generous spirit, and delighted in the company of friends. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gave her purpose and joy.

Helen leaves behind two sisters, Virginia Saunders, and Mary St.Clair; three children and their spouses, Cindy (Jim) Kopencey, Walter (Linda) Rockhill, W. David (Mary) Rockhill; six grandchildren and spouses, Jessica (Mayur) Shah, Jennifer (Eric) Hanft, Christopher (Sarah) Kopencey, Krista (Kevin) Cremin, Walter Rockhill III, Andrew Rockhill, and three great-grandchildren, Devin Shah, Marc Shah, and Hudson Hanft, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., from 10-11:30 a.m. Feb. 10. A Memorial Service will follow from 11:30-noon. Burial arrangements will be private.

Special thanks are given to the staff at Parker At Monroe for the loving care they have provided to Helen.
