Life Story: Alice Leong, 70; Longtime Banker

Alice Leong passed away on March 11 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 70 years old.

Mrs. Leong was born in Hong Hong Kong and was raised and educated there and came to the United States in 1969. She attended the American Institute of Banking in Manhattan and had a lengthy career in banking. She worked as a teller at Manufacturers Hanover Bank, Provident Bank and TD bank before retiring in 2009.

She was a communicant of St. Matthias Church in Somerset and volunteered her time to the church Summer Sondays program. She also volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America. Mrs. Leong was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening and knitting.

Mrs. Leong is survived by her husband of 40 years, Irving Leong and their children Christopher Leong, Elizabeth Leong and her husband Matthew Garnet and Kimberly Leong and her husband Jason Grossman. She is also survived by 2 brothers.

Family and friends may visit March 17 from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset.

Funeral mass will follow and begin 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthias Church, Somerset. All services will conclude at the church.
