Life Stories: Thomas F. DiGiovanni Sr., 70, Former Somerset Resident

Mr. Thomas F. DiGiovanni Sr. passed away Nov. 11 at the age of 70.

Born in New Brunswick to Anthony and Betty DiGiovanni, Thomas lived there and in Somerset before moving to the Kingston section of South Brunswick in 1975. A 1964 graduate of New Brunswick High School, Mr. DiGiovanni served his country in the National Guard.

Mr. DiGiovanni had a 35-year career as a Union pipefitter with Local 9 in Englishtown before retiring in 2001. A fitness enthusiast, Tom enjoyed the gym, kayaking, gardening, cooking, and crossword puzzles.

Mr. DiGiovanni is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Frances (Inzano) DiGiovanni; by their beloved sons: Thomas DiGiovanni Jr. of East Amwell, Frank DiGiovanni of Kingston, and Anthony DiGiovanni and his wife Jill of Hainesport; by his dear grandchildren, Katie and Jack DiGiovanni; by his brother James and nephew James DiGiovanni II in Jasper, Ala., and by a host of cousins, neighbors, and friends.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St. The funeral mass will be held the morning of Nov. 18 in St. Paul R.C. Church in Princeton at a time to be determined. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in East Brunswick.
