Girl Scout Completes Gold Award At Center For Great Expectations

A township resident recently completed her Girl Scout Gold Award at the Center for Great Expectations on Dellwood Lane.

Adia Fielder, a senior at the Groton School, completed her award on Aug. 19 by teaching a music program entitled “Little Music Makers” at the center’s daycare, Katy’s Place.

Over the course of three weeks, Fielder, a member of Girl Scout Heart of NJ Troop 66339, taught the children new songs, note values, and brought in guests to teach them about a wide variety of instruments such as the string bass and the clarinet. At the end of the program, Fielder gave the Center the instrument donations which included a tambourine, maracas, bells, and hand shakers she had received from other Girl Scouts as well as a song book and CD to keep the songs fresh in all the children’s minds even when she is not around.

Fielder said she greatly enjoyed her time at the Center and felt she much throughout the experience.

To find out more about this project, visit Fielder’s blog littlemusicmakerscge.tumblr.com and see a day-by-day break down of the program. CGE’s Lori Sequeira and former GS Leader Liz Tooles were her advisors for the project.
