FTPD: Township Man Suffers Broken Leg After Being Pinned Under Van

A Kingsbridge Road man suffered a broken leg and ankle and extensive bruising after he was pinned under his van for about 45 minutes on Dec. 18, according to a press release from the FTPD.

Police received a 9-1-1 call at about 10:34 p.m. of a man lying on Kingsbridge and screaming, according to the release.

Police arrived to find the 44-year-old man with his left leg pinned under the wheel of a Chevy work van. Police applied the van’s emergency brake before attending to the man.

The victim said that as he was getting out of his van, it rolled backward because it was not placed in “park.” The rearward motion of the vehicle pulled the man under the tire, police said.

Firefighters from East Franklin and Community Fire Companies were assisted by many township police officers in the extrication process, according to the release. They were able to lift the vehicle off the victim using specialized extrication tools.

Paramedics and EMTs from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – New Brunswick treated the victim at the scene. He was later transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
