Franklin Blvd. Post Office Resumes Normal Hours

Rajiv Prasad

Township Councilman Rajiv Prasad first broached the Franklin Boulevard Post Office issue at the March 10 council meeting.

A temporary schedule change at the Franklin Boulevard Post Office – which involved closing the office for an hour on Tuesdays – has ended, a U.S. Postal Service spokesman said.

The branch had been closing for an hour on Tuesdays so the lone clerk could take lunch.

“I spoke to the local postal officials and they advise the regular Mon – Fri and Sat retail business hours have resumed,” Flood said in an email. “The adjusted hours for lunchtime on Tuesdays was a temporary change.”

The issue was brought to light at the March 10 Township COuncil meeting by Councilman Rajiv Prasad (D-At Large).

Prasad said at the meeting that he was trying to get some coverage for that office from staff at the DeMott Lane post office, and that he had requested a meeting with U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) to help in that effort.
