FR&A Pictorial: Franklin Christians Observe Good Friday, Prepare For Easter Weekend

Like their fellow believers around the world, congregants of Somerset Presbyterian Church and St. Matthias Catholic Church observed Good Friday April 18.

The Presbyterian Church held a special “Seven Last Words of Jesus” program starting at noon. The church invited ministers from six local congregations to speak on each of the seven sentences said to have been uttered by Jesus as he died on the cross.

The program was capped by Somerset Presbyterian’s pastor, Rev. Sharon Culley, who spoke about the sentence, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”

Further up John F. Kennedy Boulevard were the congregants of St. Matthais, who performed their traditional “Stations of the Cross” walk to their church.

Each of the 14 stations was represented by members of one of the church’s ministries. Each stop was highlighted by a prayer and music.
