FR&A Pictorial: Dog Walk To Benefit Second Chance For Animals

paws for cause 201406Dogs of all sizes and shapes gathered May 4 at Colonial Park for the 7th Annual “Paws for a Cause” fundraiser for Second Chance for Animals.

The organization supplies volunteers for and funds the Franklin Township Animal Shelter on DeMott Lane.

Event organizer Tom Young said he was happy with the turnout, even though the numbers might have been suppressed by threatening rainy weather.

Young said the event generated money for SCFA mainly through entry fees, pledges collected by the participants and sponsorships.

Prior to the walk, participants could lead their dogs through an agility course, walk along the “Walk of Fame” – which featured pictures af animals ready to be adopted at the shelter – created by Girl Scout Troop 60145, or listen to live music provided by the groups Rick & Tom and Somers & Steel.

Young was optimistic that the weather would hold out for the walk along park trails.

“It’s going to clear up” he said.
