Four Injured In Christmas Day Auto Collision On Route 27
A two-car Christmas Day crash on Route 27 sent four people – including two children – to an area hospital, police said.
Police said that shortly after 4 p.m., a 2009 Honda Civic driven by Jennifer Peralta, 30, of New Brunswick, collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Tracy Gaines, 54, of Somerset, at the intersection of Henry Street.
Gaines was trapped in her car and needed to be extricated by firefighters from Community and East Franklin fire departments, police said.
Peralta suffered injuries to her arms and legs, police said, and her two passengers – a 5-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl – suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Gaines complained of neck and head pain, police said, while two adult passengers in her car said they had not been injured.
All of the injured were taken to a local hospital by Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center EMS for evaluation and treatment, police said.
New Brunswick Police also responded to assist with traffic control, police said.
No summonses have yet been issued as a result of the investigation, police said.
