Evaluations, Fundraiser Set for Franklin Township Baseball League

ftblThe final evaluations for the Spring, 2014 Franklin Township Baseball League are set for 4-7 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Rutgers Preparatory School’s lower gym, 1345 Easton Ave. in Somerset.

Participation in baseball and softball is open to residents of Franklin, South Bound Brook and Piscataway.

The skills assessment involves hitting, throwing and fielding. To move to the next level, players need to meet minimum requirements.

Any children who do not go through the skills assessment will be placed on a team at the lowest level, based on age.

Boys and girls aged 4 years to 16 years are eligible. Girls aged 7 years to 16 years can play either softball or baseball.

Baseball ages are computed as of April 30, 2014; softball ages are computed as of Dec. 31, 2013.

New players must provide a copy of the birth certificates.

Fees are $100 for the first child in a family, $50 for each additional child. The work bond is $100 per family. The late fee, for registration after Dec. 31, 2013, is $25.

Each family is required to participate in the candy fundraiser or opt for the $40 buy-out.
