Elizabeth Mary Hoffman, 92, Exceptional Southern Cook

elizabeth-hoffmanElizabeth Mary Hoffman, 92, passed away on Saturday, October 22 at St. Peter’s University Medical Center in New Brunswick.

Mrs. Hoffman was born July 12, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of John and Irma (Adams) Pattison. She relocated in 1963 with her family to Atlanta, Ga. and settled in Somerset  in 1964.

Elizabeth was a long-time parishioner at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. She loved to make afghan blankets, having made many for her family and friends. Elizabeth also enjoyed to crochet, was an avid bowler and an exceptional Southern cook. Elizabeth was a caring mother, a loving grandmother and an adoring great-grandmother. She cherished spending every moment with her family; she will be missed by many.

Mrs. Hoffman was predeceased by her parents; her spouse, Edward Hoffman; her son, Kim Hoffman and her four brothers.

She is survived by her sons, Edward Robert Hoffman Jr. of Somerset and Kerry Hoffman and his wife Eileen of Naples, FL; her daughter, Susan Smith and her husband Jeffrey; her daughter-in-law, Judy Hoffman Schultheis; her six grandchildren, Lauren, Kristin, Eric, Dana, Matthew and Michael, and her five great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, October 26th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 27th at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Entombment and committal service will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
