Ducks Rally Late To Beat Patriots 6-4

Bridgewater, NJ – The Long Island Ducks (38-23) defeated the Somerset Patriots (36-25) 6-4 in ten innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

Tied at 4-4 in the top of the tenth inning, the Ducks plated two runs on a line drive RBI single by Vladimir Frias and an error that led to the final score.

Somerset struck first when Justin Pacchioli launched a two-run home run, his first as a Patriot, in the bottom of the third inning to break a scoreless tie.

The Ducks got their first run in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by L.J. Mazzilli.

A Deibinson Romero RBI double in the top of the seventh inning tied up the game at 2-2.

Somerset answered by regaining the lead in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Jimmy Paredes, who later scored on a wild pitch that made the score 4-2.

The Ducks tied up the game in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI force out off the bat of Romero, with the second run scoring on an error.

Patriots starter David Kubiak once again had a solid outing, allowing two runs on four hits over eight innings in a no decision.

Michael Tonkin (1-0) picked up the win with two scoreless innings of work. Luis Cruz (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing two unearned runs on two hits in an inning pitched.

The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home with a 1:05 pm game on Sunday, June 30th at TD Bank Ballpark.
