Car Burglar Scores $3,000 in Cash, May Have Been Filmed

Police said a Whittier Avenue man may have captured on tape a burglary of his car which netted the thief $3,000 in cash.

Police said that an outdoor surveillance camera system recently installed by Ramiro Gonzalez captured the image of a man approaching his 2009 Lexus while it was parked at his house.

The video shows the man wearing dark pants and a grey hooded sweatshirt from the rear and approaching the car before it cut out, police said.

The car’s passenger side window was smashed, police said, and the money was taken from its glove compartment.

Neighbors told police that they did not see or hear anything. Gonzalez told police that he would drop off a CD copy of the video as soon as he figures out how to do it.
