6th Annual CanalFest Draws Crowd, Support For Food Bank

An estimated 3,000 people strolled down Market Street in East Millstone Oct. 15 for the 6th annual Delaware & Raritan Canal Festival.

The event, featuring arts and crafts and food vendors non-profit organizations and a variety of musical acts, is a fundraiser for the Franklin Township Food Bank.

Patti Sofran, head of the event’s organizing committee, estimated that about $10,000 was raised during the day.

“We have the most beautiful day ever,” she said. “The crowd is having a great time. The food vendors are awesome, the arts and crafts vendors are awesome and the music is over the top.”

Bands and other acts were on display on two stages during the course of the day.
