The township’s Over 50 Softball League kicked off its 2017 season April 28 with games in Middlebush Park and Lower Inman Park.

The league has four teams, The A Team, Canal Walk, Resta’s Car Care and Galaxy Construction.

League Commissioner Bob LaCorte said the initial games went off smoothly.

“Mayor Kramer threw out the first pitch, and everybody had a good time,” he said.

In the first round of games, Canal Walk played Galaxy Construction in Middlebush, and Resta’s played The A Team in Lower Inman, he said.

“The purpose of all this is to get the over 50 folks out,” LaCorte said.

He said they’re still looking for players.

“If anybody’s looking to join and play a little bit of softball and get out on a Friday night at 6 and Sunday at 9:30 a.m., we’re more than happy to have you join the league,” he said.

Interested players can call LaCorte at (732) 991-1710, or township Recreation Superintendent Dan Reeve at (732) 873-2500 ext. 6345.
