Two Franklin High School wrestlers took home trophies in the Somerset County wrestling tournament at Hillsborough High School.

Seniors Devan Sirota and Chase Smith placed above their seeded positions in the tournament, which was held Jan. 14.

Sirota, who wrestled at 138 lbs., was seeded 6th and placed third after beating the fifth seed and second seed, said Dan Dicolo, the wrestling team coach. This was Sirota’s first time placing in the Somerset County Tournament, he said.

Smith, who wrestled at 145 lbs., was seeded fourth and placed third after avenging a loss from earlier in the year and beating the third seed in the consolation match, DiColo said. This was the second time Chase placed in the county tournament, he said.
