A 52-year-old Hillsborough man has been charged with bank robberies in Franklin and other towns. Mark Elbaum was arrested at about 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 29 in Hillsborough, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.

As many as 100 new jobs will come to the township as a result of a planned expansion at Ferrero USA on Cottontail Lane. The expansion, which will bring the company’s packaging and warehousing facility to 67,000 square feet, was commemorated Oct. 18 with a groundbreaking attended by company officials and township, county and federal dignitaries.

Franklin will be getting a second Dollar Tree store with the scheduled opening of an Elizabeth Avenue location on Nov. 8.

Part of Easton Avenue will be closed for several hours Oct. 7 for a continuing investigation into a fatal accident. Easton Avenue between Cedar Grove Lane and Willow Avenue will be closed for “two to three hours” starting at 8 a.m., according to Franklin Township Police Department Lt. Phil Rizzo and Somerset County Public Safety.

A 59-year-old Clinton woman was killed and two other people were injured Oct. 4 in an auto accident at Easton Avenue and Culver Street, police said. Update: Authorities are looking for an 18-year-old township man in connection with the attempted burglary of a Hillsborough home in August. An arrest warrant has been issued for Omar S.
